ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION

Environmental Education (EE) refers to organized efforts to teach how natural environment functions and particularly how human beings can manage behaviour and ecosystems to live sustainably. It is a multi disciplinary field integrating disciplines such as biology, chemistry, physics, ecology, earth science, atmospheric science, mathematics and geography.

When the government made it compulsory for all schools to educate students about environment, our school started to make the students aware about mother nature and tried to instil a sense of responsibility towards it. One of the main goals of the School is to enable students to think critically, when evaluating environmental issues and develop skills and a commitment to act independently as well as collectively to sustain and enhance the environment.

School students were taken on a trip to different locations where they planted trees and took pledge to plant trees in their homes and to motivate others to plant trees. School has been also educating children with subjects like environmental studies and teachers utilize methods such as practical work, drawing reference points from real life situations. We all need to do our bit to drive the world towards environmental sustainability.

The School used to celebrate “Green Day” wherein teachers create and exchange messages to save the environment. Students participated in activities that involved restructuring of waste materials to useful articles. Our School has also set up a well designed water harvesting system and the teachers educate the students about the value of water and the urgent need to save it.

INNOVATIONS

Innovation involves a different way of looking at problems and solving them effectively. It also improves education because it compels students to use a higher level of thinking to solve complex problem. Innovation does not just mean the invention or use of technology though these of course also come within the purview of innovation.

Teachers gave projects to students according to their interests. This exercise involved using real tools to tackle problems. In order to innovate and solve problems effectively students are instructed to understand not only what they already know but also what they still need to learn.

The School also encourages students to develop different life skills, thereby aiding the spirit of innovation and unleashing the creativity of students.

SPORTS ACHIEVEMENTS

Sports has a much greater role in the development of students in terms of character-building properties and personality building traits necessary in all citizens of the future. We firmly believe that a healthy body is the key to a healthy mind and for purposes of preserving this belief sports is given utmost importance at the School. With a strong team of sports focused leaders, the School aims to provide a structured curriculum of sports to keep the students engaged while being able to identify and nurture talent across multiple sports.

The School offers a variety of sports and games catering to all students. Courts/Spaces/Grounds are provided for basketball, badminton, football, cricket, volleyball and martial arts. We train our students with basic co-ordination drills to improve their hands, eyes and leg co-ordination. We have chess as a sport in our indoor games. Chess is a game of complete focus and for that we need a calm and peaceful environment. Students enjoy this game with complete concentration. We have some really good chess players who keep bringing laurels to our School.

The Annual Sports Meet is a grand inter house event which provides an opportunity to all students to show their talent, sporting abilities and physical fitness while emphasizing the mantras of team spirit, communications, discipline and leadership.

2020-2021 has been a year consumed by the Covid-19 Pandemic. As a result our Annual sports day celebration was cancelled None the less our students took part in the various competitions organized virtually by the sahodaya schools in the field of sports and other activities.

The growing pollution in the environment has made it imperative for us to make the students aware of the dangers of global warming. By using the platform of social media our children were encouraged to join the “Save Sparrow” initiative. Planting trees has been another very important activity for which virtual workshops were organized.

The Covid-19 pandemic has forced schools to re think their teaching methods the teachers had to shift to an On-line mode of teaching with tools and equipment new to them. I am very grateful to my teachers who handled this shifts very professionally & enthusiastically and managed to conduct very fruitful On-line classes. We appreciate their efforts in making 2020- 2021 a successful academic year.

P.T.A. meetings were organized virtually. Parents discussed their wards’ progress with teachers. Some parents even addressed the students giving their valuable inputs and even sharing anecdotes of their school life the hope of motivating the students.

With the purpose of updating the teachers’ skills and knowledge virtual training workshops were organized for them, these teaching workshops included various significant aspects like, moral values, life skills by C.B.S.E. and stress management, English Language and counselling.

The S M C took very important decisions in their Annual meeting which was organized virtually on date……………

  1. Procurement of marks, sanitizers, sanitizing tunnels, thermal temperature machine.
  2. Strict adherence of rules and regulations framed and laid down by the health sector together with the central & state administration.
  3. The school management committee provided the infrastructure and equipment required for the proper functioning of the on-line classes.
  4. Students had to be made aware of the dangers of Covid-19, and how to keep them self and others safe from the pandemic through social media, they had to be made aware of the do’s and don’t relating to the Pandemic.
  5. Parents may deposit the fees when and how it is convenient to them every help will be given to parents in this regard.

I would like to thank the management for their continuous support which has enabled the school to live up to its aspiration and come this far. Teachers and other staff members deserve our appreciation and applause in tirelessly working towards imparting quality education. My sincere thanks to the parents who have trusted us in shaping and moulding the children for the future and transforming them into worthy citizens of the country and universe.
